This is my first post in the new year about Health and Wellness. I will be linking up with The Momma Bird on Thursdays to share my posts. So, first off....I have always been health conscious and have tried to keep myself at a healthy weight. Well, after having 3 children...the scales have been up higher than they have ever been. Ever since my youngest was born (who is now 6!) I have struggled more and more with my weight. Losing some here and there, and then gaining it back in the Winter only to have to lose it again the following year. Round and around for 6 years I've done this. A few months ago I decided to break the cycle for good!
So Guess What??
I made it through Halloween, Thanksgiving, AND Christmas....managing to LOSE Weight. It's now January and I have lost a total of 14 pounds!
I have been going to the Gym since the end of August, but it took me a few weeks to really get into a good routine and to build up some stamina. I Love It! I know you don't need a gym membership to lose weight and get in shape, but it helps me stick with my goal. For one thing, I am paying for it...I'm not going to waste it! And another is, I eat better the whole rest of the day when I get in a morning workout...I don't want to wreck all that I did at the gym!
The number one thing, I think, in losing weight is:
I typically have a breakfast that includes EGGS!!
Peanuts and pretty much any other kind of nuts are a great snack. I usually throw back a couple of handfuls a day!.... :)
Lets not forget cheese....Oh, My...do I LOVE cheese!!
This is something my husband came up with as a "sweet" snack. Since he can no longer have cookies, granola bars, chocolate, etc. This has been his new thing. I finally took the plunge and made myself one, and now...it's MY go to "sweet" when I am really wanting something "bad" to eat.
Rice Cake (unsalted)
Natural Peanut butter
Almond Butter, Sun Butter (your pick)
Jelly (I like Sugar-Free Strawberry)
I find myself eating at least one salad a day. I used to make a huge salad, but I have found that a small one fills me up just as well! When you aren't stuffing your face all day...your stomach can't hold as much food and therefore shrinks! I think it takes 72 hours....but don't hold me to that fact!
I have been making a lot of chili in the past few weeks too. The beans are great for "filling" you up since they are packed full of fiber. This is our "comfort" food, and something that Evan can eat too.
Ever heard of a Wheat Belly?? Well, I have been reading this book....it is full of some amazing, insightful information! Since, my husband is allergic to Wheat...and I have read that eliminating wheat from your diet will pretty much "make" you lose weight without much effort...I decided to delve into this book and find out what it was really all about. You will be seeing this book and what I have learned from it pop up in many of my Health and Wellness posts in the weeks to come. Go out and borrow it from the library...you won't be sorry! Oh, and my husband has "HAD" to eliminate wheat from his diet for health reasons, but he is living proof of the weight loss effects....he has lost nearly 30 pounds in the last 4 months! While eliminating wheat, you will lose weight from your midsection!! Just where I need it the most! I will not live with a "muffin top" any longer. :)
This is my FAVORITE piece of cardio equipment to use at the gym...
After I get in some cardio, I workout with weights and stretching, then end with more cardio! It's a routine that works for me. I'd like to take a class, but I find I'm not coordinated enough! lol...No, I will make that one of my goals for the Spring! :)
My goals for this week are:
Drink more water
Exercise 3 to 4 days this week
Get enough Sleep
Eat healthy over-all
